AC Episkopi Apricots

The apricot is a fruit-bearing, long-lived, deciduous tree and belongs to the genus Ancestor of the Rhodes family. In Cyprus the tree is known as a golden apple.

It is native to East Asia and the Himalayas, from where it was transported to the rest of Europe via Armenia, hence its scientific name Pruny Armenian. It must have been well-known in China, because there are references to books where as early as 2200 BC. was named Singh.
